Why grinding weed is important?

How to break apart marijuana with your hands:

A flat surface and a rolling tray are simply the best options for this purpose. They would allow you to use your both hands to separate the stems and seeds of marijuana. If you are not facilitated with flat surface, you can use the palm of your hands as well.

Hold your one hand flat, collect ground up cannabis and hold the nug in your other hand. Use your middle finger, index finger and your thumb to roll the herb. Make sure that small pieces fall into your open palm. Keep practicing t until you are done with your whole marijuana.

You need to grind marijuana into equal small pieces. Once you’re happy with the consistency of your grind, use your ground-up marijuana to roll up your joint, spliff, or blunt, or to pack your bowl.

Protect your trichomes:

You need to keep your force in control while applying it to grind your cannabis. Damaging the herb is not the goal. You need to protect as much trichomes as much you can. A pair of scissors and a clean shot glass are all you need to grind your herb. Keep the nug into the shot glass and poke the scissors down into the glass to slice apart marijuana. Make sure that you are slicing marijuana evenly. You need to have a super sharp scissors for this purpose.

Coffee grinder:

A coffee grinder can also be used to grind marijuana. Your cannabis will be grinded but this grinding will make the blades of your coffee grinder sticky with resin.

Kitchen knife and cutting board:

You can also chop your marijuana by utilizing a sharp kitchen knife and a cutting board.   Make sure to use sharp knife for this purpose otherwise you will be wasting your cannabis. Of course, your knife and cutting board will accumulate residual sticky resin, so you should plan on washing them immediately after slicing apart your marijuana.


While a grinder is the single best piece of equipment you can use to grind marijuana, you can also improvise with household items and your own hands.
